Lashing

Container lashing is a term used during sea transportation. This process aims to securely fix containers used for sea transportation on the ship deck or transport vehicle and to prevent the fixed containers from moving. Container lashing is critical to ensuring safety and cargo integrity in the maritime industry.

The container lashing process usually includes these steps:

  1. Placement of containers: Containers are placed on the ship deck or on the transport vehicle.

  2. Use of fixing equipment: Containers are fixed using fixing equipment. This equipment may include lashing straps, steel ropes, handcuffs, locks and other restraints.

  3. Stretching process: After the containers are correctly fastened with the fixing equipment, these equipment are tensioned tightly. This keeps the containers in place and prevents them from moving.

  4. Monitoring and inspection: It is important to regularly check whether the fastening equipment is properly installed during the container lashing process. This ensures that the cargo is transported safely and without damage.

Container lashing is a critical operation in the maritime industry because it prevents possible balance shifts and overturning of containers during ship movements. This is important for safety and transportation efficiency and is a critical safety measure in maritime transportation.
